Дэн Смит – победитель турнира Triton Invitational.

Dan Smith won the Triton poker trophy for the first time in several years. And not just in an ordinary tournament, but in one of the most difficult tournaments – Triton Invitational.

In this tournament, amateur players invite professional poker players to participate. On the first day they sit at different tables, but then the cards are combined and the tournament becomes more interesting. Traditionally, this tournament is held at the end of the series, but this time the organizers decided to hold it first. The tournament was attended by 58 people, each of whom paid $200,000, plus 15 re-entries. The total prize fund was $14,600.

Of our players, only Alexander Shelukhin from Russia made it to the final table. He took fifth place and won a large prize of $1,125,000. In addition, Alexander played in an “amateur” tournament. This tournament became a landmark for France. For the first time in a long time, Bertrand Grospellier was displaced from first place. First place was taken by 76-year-old former football player Jean-Noël Trellet. He finished fourth in the Triton Invitational for $1,390,000, giving Jean-Noel a total of $15,257,000 in tournament winnings; Grospellier took second place, receiving $14,974,000. Dan Smith fought with Mario Mosbeck. However, the situation quickly changed in Smith’s favor, as in the final hand he did not give his opponent a single chance.

The victory in the tournament was Dan’s debut on Triton. For first place he received $3,870,000. The amount seems significant, but as Smith put it in a post-tournament interview:

“I’ve had some big wins, but to get 20 buy-ins in an event like this is amazing.”
