Successful TV presenter and professional poker player Maria Ho. She is one of the top five female poker players in the world.

Maria Ho

Maria currently lives near Los Angeles. When she’s not playing poker, she can be found attending music concerts in Hollywood, working for charities, and helping her family succeed in the real estate business.

She discovered poker at university. At first she played with friends, and then moved on to limit games for money. After graduating from university, Ho began playing high-stakes games and built her bankroll to the point where she could begin a career as a professional poker player.

WSOP title

For example, in the 2007 WSOP Main Event, Maria Ho finished 38th for $237,865, the highest finish by a female player at the tournament. After she left, only men remained in the game. Since then, Maria has won the “Last Woman Standing” title in the WSOP Main Event two more times.

Other successes

In 2010, she took 10th place in the WPT Championship Bellagio Cup VI, earning $40,783. 2011 was a record year for Maria: in January, she took second place in the Aussie Millions Poker Championship, earning $69,200.

Playing heads-up at the WSOP that month, she won the bracelet but missed out on first place, and Maria claims that it wasn’t the money that mattered to her at that moment, but that she was one step closer to the bracelet. She knows she played well and is proud of it. But as a determined player, she wants more – despite finishing second, the amount of money she won was the most in WSOP history for a female player.
