Isaac Haxton becomes Super High Roller Bowl champion

Results of the most expensive tournament of the year, Haxton's success

One of the most expensive tournaments of the year, the Super High Roller Bowl with a $300,000 buy-in, ended over the weekend. The tournament attracted a modest 20 participants, which only happened during the pandemic.

The prize pool grew to four players and the winner was Isaac Haxton, who won the SHRB for the third time in a row. He first did this in December 2018, and the other two cups besides him were Justin Bonomo and Timothy Adams. At the end of the tournament, Chris Brewer’s defeat was talked about more than Haxton’s victory. He earned the nickname “Loser of the Year” at the 2023 WSOP due to several eliminations on the bubble, and repeated his “success” in the Super High Roller Bowl.

Brewer’s tournament life ended in the top 5. The American poker pro put up for the pot with two aces, diamonds, hearts against the king, ten spades – passage into the prize zone in this situation was practically guaranteed. However, failures on the bubble continued to haunt Chris:

Then the game got even more exciting, and Jason Koon was the next to arrive at the cash register. His prize fund was $600,000. Jason didn’t look like himself and was nicknamed “the drug dealer from 3000” by host Nick Shulman.

Stephen Chidwick finished in third place. He’s been in good form over the last two weeks, winning 4ITM at the Poker Masters and $960,000 with a purple jacket at SHRB. Andrew Lichtenberger and Isaac Haxton played for several hours, and the heads-up play was grueling for both remaining players. The chip advantage passed from one side to the other, but Ike beat his opponent and won $2,760,000. Ike has achieved incredible results in the live game this year. In the first six months he won over $5,000,000 at the live tables, then took a short break, but is now back in shape.

“It was a tough field to beat. I feel great. I’m very happy to win this tournament. He’s one of my favorites.”

Ike commented.

Despite the end of high-stakes tournaments, high rollers are not leaving Las Vegas. The Aria Hotel has already kicked off the mixed games series, and the SHRB Omaha series is just around the corner.
